September 12th, 2019 – NWBR 2020 Updates & Event Dates!

To Our Northwest Bronco Roundup Extended Family…

We had an unbelievable great year at the 2019 Northwest Bronco Roundup! We were in the neighborhood of 275 Bronco’s, with over 20 of them being first timers. The food drive had a mind blowing 8,616lbs of food destined to serve the entire West Lane County, crushing our 5k lbs goal.

Jesse M Honeyman State Park made for an excellent backdrop to some wonderful campfire time with new & old friends alike.

You would think that you have seen it all, well… YOU AIN’T SEEN NOTHIN’ YET!!! Save the date for the 2020 Northwest Bronco Roundup – August 12th – 15th, 2020

We have already lined up more things than you could possibly do in the time that you’re here! We’re announcing the return of the Sand Games, Covered Bridge Tour, a new Waterfall Hike, Scavenger Hunt, and an all new Old Town Street Party!!! In addition to all that, we’re also working with our sponsors to expand events with them as well.

List of needed items to attend the Northwest Bronco Roundup 2020:

    1. A Ford Bronco (Duh!) Whether it’s an uncut stocker or heavily modified; a Bronco’s a Bronco and we welcome all to attend!
    2. If you plan on cruising the Oregon Coast Dunes with the group of early Bronco’s a sturdy roll cage is a good idea and great piece of safety equipment to have for your old horse! We at least recommend running a hard top on the dunes if your Bronco isn’t equipped with a roll cage. A soft top just won’t cut it in the event of a roll over. Remember, drive your Bronco within your comfort zone, always be safe and have a good time!
    3. A working fire extinguisher is required to have on hand in your Bronco at all times. If you don’t have one or need to replace the one in your Bronco, there are many early Bronco vendors’ that carry high quality fire extinguishers for your rig. Browse the sponsor’s listed on this site!
    4. A current / up to date Oregon OHV permit is required to journey out on the Oregon dunes! These permits can be purchased throughout the town of Florence, Oregon. We recommend hitting up the Sportsman which is located at 249 Highway 101 Florence, OR 97439:
  1. A red dune flag is required when driving on the sand and they must be visible 9 feet above the ground. You can pick up a dune flag at the Sportsman while you’re purchasing an Oregon OHV permit!
  2. Bring canned food for our canned food drive if you can! Tom Dummer helps put this on every year and he does a great job along with all of the help from you! The canned food we donate goes towards the Florence Food Share program. This time of year during the event the Florence Food Share is generally in high demand for canned food goods. Every single canned food you donate makes a BIG difference to someone’s life and both of us and the Florence Food Share greatly appreciate all your help and donations! 1 flat or more gives you up to 2 extra raffle tickets!
  3. And most importantly, whether you’re an experienced dune driver or have never brought your Bronco onto the sand… EVERYONE can do it and we cater to all levels of experience. Broncos of all sizes, whether uncut or jacked up, all-terrains to boggers, your Ford Bronco can tackle the dunes with ease!

Please check back to the site often for updates!

Thanks and we hope to see you at the 2020 Northwest Bronco Roundup!

Council Moves On PUD Plan

Last night in a special session of the Florence City Council the council, after almost two hours of reviewing appeals made by residents for the Planned Unit Development at rhododendron and 35th street, went through all of the information line by line, accepting portions of the PUD plan and asking for modifications on items like parking and right of way allowances. The city unanimously decided to deny the majority of the appeals with the exception of density, vegetation buffers and off street parking. The council asked for a recalculation of the density of the project to include utility access. The question of adequate parking was also addressed by Councilor Greene noting that one parking space for certain residences could mean more individuals parking in the street and therefore cause potential traffic problems.

“That street, that everyone has to use to get in and out, is going to have a substantial amount of cars on them and you can be sure that people are going to be upset that live there because their teenager of their visitor doesn’t have enough spaces because the residences are using more, much of them.”

After discussion the council approved the single space recommendation for the series of one bedroom townhouses. The majority of the planning commission recommendations from their September 8th meeting were upheld. The representatives of APIC holding will be required to update their plan with the changes when it turns in its final plan for the property.
